Often I go on walks that end up being far longer than expected...something catches my eye and that thing leads me to another thing and yet another. Before I know it I am lost in neighborhoods miles away from home. The discovery of this beautiful building came about from one of those walks. What strikes me most about it is the Stalin style mosaic above the front door. It remains more or less preserved due to graffiti artists maneuvering (mostly) around it. Curious, too, are the centrally located balconies. They must have been placed there for visual appeal, they seem too small to serve any practical purpose.
