Oil, Collage, Mixed Media
This is cultural commentary on the illusions of "unification" between the former East and West Germany. The painting's embedded musical score signals the possibility of unity . It, however, is torn to shreds & can thus not be played as intended. The three figures represent the paradoxical reality created when "unification" is superimposed upon them. Culturally where there is division, economic "unity" has no problem bridging itself -- this is hinted by the woman on the far right as she reaches for a Euro from her handbag.
