Black on Black: Barcelona, circa 2017
Black on Black: Barcelona, circa 2017
The history of Barcelona dates back to the first century BC when it was founded as a Roman city. Over the centuries, the city has been conquered and ruled by various groups, including the Visigoths, Moors, and the Spanish. During the Middle Ages, Barcelona was an important trading center, and by the 13th century, it had become the capital of the Crown of Aragon. In the 15th century, Barcelona was the center of the Catalan culture and language, as well as a major center of trade and commerce. During the 19th century, Barcelona experienced a period of industrialization and growth, and by the early 20th century, it had become a major port city and a leader in the Spanish economy. Today, Barcelona is a vibrant and modern city, known for its art, culture, and architecture. It is also a popular tourist destination, drawing millions of visitors each year.

Barcelona, Spain -- a labyrinth of riches: architecture, food, & outstretched streets that kiss the sky and sea, Barcelona is a graceful seductress dripping with temptations for each of the senses. Its narrow streets perpetually cast hard shadows, with a light at the end of each way.
